It’s Like a Rebuild

It looks like I’ll get everything to work out after all, but I’m going to have to work for it. The effort will be worth it in the end just for better shopping functionality… at least that’s what I’m telling myself. It won’t be perfect, as I will have to use two sections of the site – one to enter all of the product information and another to enter the product characteristics so the shipping plugin works. Kind of like a complete rebuild of my shopping interface. I am going to experiment with exporting the products, entering the characteristics into the spreadsheet and importing to see if that works. If so, it will save me a heap of time. There has to be a feature like that – just to keep up with changing prices. There’s no way someone could keep up with that one individual product at a time…there’s just not enough hours in the day. Naturally, as things have been going lately, I was moving along quite nicely when it exploded. I was dropping in all the individual categories and subcategories, added catalogs and imported pictures. All of which is fairly time consuming, but not bad if it only has to be done once. Things were looking really good – products were displaying, cart functionality was spot on and then, all of the sudden, my Uncharacterized category (mandatory with Woo commerce) hijacked one of my other categories and caused the cart to freeze and lock in the corner. I’m currently unable to get to the shop or the cart to fix them, both are blocked out…it’s like it’s gone crazy. However, I’m not going to be able to sort through it tonight, so I’ll pick it up fresh tomorrow.
