Weekly Store Update: 14 March

Happy Pi Day! I just finished Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi and...you know, it's a well rounded story. No, I absolutely cannot help myself! 😀 It's been a great week here at SVG and we added some wonderful new (and classic) games, restocked several titles, and added more preorders as well. I've got some news on the future of our physical shop, and another webstore tip.

Hey there! Hopefully this update finds you well! It's Eric, your humble scribe and guide through the weekly store update. I cobble together a fairly easy layout, with the shop news at the top and the Restocks, New Items, and Preorders we laid in last week down at the bottom of the post, so if you want to skip the news to see what's new just jump on down and check it out. If you hang on though, we'll get there soon enough!

Not too much activity outside of normal shop operations this week, but there are two things I'd like to discuss. First is the physical store. Pulling back to operate from our home has saved the business. However, now that things are starting to swing the other way we want to get things open back up to our customers. So, we've decided to build. Big news there is after a few weeks of narrowing it down we now have a designer! Unfortunately, because of the current property boom here in Huntsville it'll take about three months for our number to come up for the design work. In the meantime though we plan on lining up our contractors. It's most likely going to take over a year to get everything done, but that's good with us... one step at a time! I'm just happy knowing we have a definitive plan for the future!

Next is another neat feature in the webstore. Have you ever noticed at the bottom of every product there is a Category list? Well, what you may not know is the words there are actually links that combine all of the products with that word. So, if you really like economic games, if you click 'economics' it will take you to everything in the store with an economic aspect to the game. Same thing with a Manufacturer (and yes, I know there's a significant difference between a publisher and manufacturer...but I had to pick just one to get this to work right). So, if you're looking at a game from Z-Man Games and want to see what else we carry from them just click and you'll know. How cool is that! Once you're done with that it's best to use the top menu to jump to your next area of interest.

See, not too much news this week, so let's get to the fun stuff! Below are the Restocks, New Items, and Preorders added to the shop last week. You can click on the item to learn more, many of the products have review and gameplay videos so you can see the game in action. If you're visiting and you'd like to keep up with our giveaways, sales, new products, and articles like this one just create an account here. Once created you will be subscribed to our newsletter and become enrolled in our loyalty system, instantly earning 50 Stones that you can use on your very first order. A Stone? One Stone is equivalent to One Cent. That doesn't sound like much, but you earn 2 Stones for every dollar spent and 5 for each product review, so though it may seem small, those savings add up fast! Redeem your Stones upon checkout, and they can save you up to 10% off your cart total. Loyalty Matters!

Hey there Eric at Stone Valley. I ordered “A Feast For Odin” a few months ago and let me say I really appreciate how well packaged things were and the attention to detail!!! I just have a question for you. I finally just got the game out and ready to start putting AFFO through it’s paces and noticed my copy has duplicates of the Faroe and Shetland Explore Boards and is missing the Iceland and Greenland boards. I figured I would enquire with Z-man about sending me replacements, but noticed their website no longer has a support page for the game. As Asmodee apparently now owns Z-man et al, and from what I learned on BGG, won’t deal with individual consumers, I was wondering if you have any suggestions?? In any case thanks for your time! -Roald

Hey there Roald, this is what’s going to happen. I’m going to reach out to our Asmodee rep with the issue. She will let me know how they want to handle it. Sometimes they have the correct parts, other times the send the entire game. In any case, I’ll let you know when I hear something back from her. –Eric
