Weekly Store Update: 28 February
Oh sure, the weather's all cute and nice now... like we're supposed to forget it just tried to take us out! Well, we'll let it slide. This time. In any case, we've had another great week around the shop; new items and restocks filling the shelves and more preorders loaded up. Some website tweaks, another school added to the team, not-so-favorable reviews, and other news to talk about too.
Hey all, Eric here, your guide for the next little bit. If you're new, this top portion of the post is our shop news. However, if you want to skip the jaw jackin' you can jump down to the bottom of the post and see the restocks, new items, and preorders we laid in last week. Let's get to it!
We've drawn the winners for the Warp's Edge board game giveaway! I don't want to give anything away, so we're going to have to wait until the next Solosaurus podcast to see who the lucky winners are. So exciting! We're already looking toward the next giveaway, so if you don't win this one there's more to come! We'll be putting that together soon.
We've added another webstore tweak based on popular demand. Now there's a better callout for items out of stock in the webstore. For folks who web search right in to a product view they will have better visual cues that a product is no longer available, it's no longer in tiny font toward the bottom of the page. It's funny, you'd think a change like that would be a click or two... but I had to do a fairly good bit of research to work it out. Hey, best thing about owning your own business is you're learning something almost every day - and that's awesome!
Talking about learning something new, our accountant gave us her thumbs up last week on our bookkeeping for 2020. I find that to be quite an accomplishment, as last year I think she wanted me drawn and quartered. Now over the course of the next few weeks we'll see what ole' Uncle Sam hits us with. Perhaps not my favorite part of the business side of board gaming, but inevitable, am I right!
Oh my, talking about 'not my favorite', and I don't even want to bring it up and give you the impression that I'm whining, but it's another new experience for us. So, you probably know ratings are important, as they demonstrate to real people and to internet analytics that a store is reputable. Well, someone just hit us with a one star review on our Google store page saying something about not trusting us with credit card information. Hey, I'll take a one star review that I've earned and grow - we're only human, right? Well...the person who left the review isn't even a customer of ours. So, I complained to Google who simply said it wasn't against any of their terms and conditions. Too bad! I guess we get to carry that rating around forever. Just weird that someone would go out of their way to do that. I'll tell you though, for the most part folks have been nothing but supportive and helpful, and for that we're truly grateful! I'll tell you what, we get some great emails and messages and those really perk us up!
To finish on a high note, we've added another local school to our stable! Now the Hazel Green High School has us locked in as an official vendor and we provide them incentives to purchase their board games through us. It's a win all around, and we're super stoked to be working with them!
Well, enough news! Below are the Restocks, New Items, and Preorders added to the shop last week.
