The Lord of the Rings and Arkham Horror Living Card Games – Expansions…

You may have noticed that we now carry the base game for both The Lord of the Rings and Arkham Horror Card Games. These are Living Card Games (LCG) where sets are released at a regular pace, generally once a month. We were on the ground floor with Marvel Champions, but with COVID that is a bit mixed up right now. In any case, I just wanted to let you know that we are in the process of obtaining expansions for both The Lord of the Rings and Arkham Horror. I have three initial orders coming in, starting Tuesday with the other two orders following close behind. Once these three orders come in it will take me a bit to get them loaded in the shop. For expansions not in these initial orders, they will be on backorder status and we will add them as they become available.

As you probably know, there are dozens of expansions for both games, so I figured it'd be easiest to show you what we have coming in, in case you were looking to pick up a specific one and didn't want to sort thru them once they hit the site. BTW, I've modified the shop layout so the all of the board games we carry now fall into different categories - of which Card Games is one. There were just too many products to keep everything in one page.

The items missing from this list are on backorder status. We do not know when, or if items on backorder status will be released. Also, the majority of these items were extremely limited in initial quantities, so if there is something in particular you want...you may want to grab it quickly. Once we see how popular these are we can better gauge restocks in the future.

Also, this may not be the time, but we hear about the cost of these games quite a bit. Obviously you could consider my opinion tainted because...you know, I run a shop... but, from Eric the Player's perspective, Living Card Games are really cost effective vs. my other card game passion - Magic the Gathering, which is a Collectible Card Game. So, with MTG, I purchase packs of cards - and I do not know what cards are in the pack, only that there is a single rare or mythic rare, three uncommon, with the rest of the pack common cards. Packs may or may not have a token, foil, etc. So, in order to get the cards I want, I'm going to spend quite a bit in raw packs to grab the right cards. The draw of LCGs is, a pack is a pack. You know what cards you are going to get and if you want to skip a theme or a few decks...no harm, no foul as the game keeps chugging along. All of the additional LCG cards just add to the base game, and across the board make the game so much better over time. So, for Eric the Player, LCGs are actually way more cost effective than my CCGs...but I find the funding to pay for them both...but that's just me. Which is also why I'm not into more than one CCG 😀 Do you have a similar story?

This is great, glad you restocked on some of these older expansions. I just got into LOTR LCG, when I’m ready for my next expansion I’ll be ordering from you. I hate ordering on Amazon and prefer to support game shops but my local shops don’t carry the older LOTR expansions.

That’s great to hear! Yes, we actually are working on obtaining even more of the older sets too – but those are a ways out. The next opportunity that we may score more is around the second week of July. We have our fingers crossed 😀 Take care! –Eric
