Weekly Store Update: 12 June
We're bracing for a heat wave here 'almost' as hot as our prices! We have so many wonderful new games and restocks aplenty as well. We have a few more store updates to share and reveal our board game giveaway winner for June! Why not saddle on up and check it out?
INTRO
Welcome to our weekly newsletter! For our new readers I'm Eric, and Wendy and I run Stone Valley Games. This newsletter is our way to share both local and world-wide gaming news of interest that popped up last week. It also provides our subscribers, both local and remote, some information on the going's on around here so everyone feels like part of the action. At the bottom of this newsletter we show you the restocks, new items, and preorders added to the store last week. All in all it's not too difficult to navigate, so let's get to it!
BOARD GAME GIVEAWAY WINNER
We've drawn the winner of our June Board Game Giveaway!
What did we give away? This month we gave away the amazing Secrets of the Lost Station! I'm telling you, this box is chalk full of gaming goodness!

We performed our drawing like we always do. We grab the list of entries and number them in the order they signed up. Then Wendy reaches deep into our bag of numbers and draws the winning ticket. Then, just in case the winner doesn't want the item after all or we cannot contact them, she draws a second number too. We correspond the winning number and backup to the entries and presto bongo there's our winner's name!
After following our usual process, the winner for June's drawing was Eric R. from Wichita, Kansas! Congratulations Eric! We'll have this magnificent game heading your way soon!
GAME BALL
In a story we've been covering since our March 6 Newsletter, our sponsored baseball team has now finished their season. What a baseball story it was! Championship game, our Senator's behind one, tying run on third and winning run on second. Two outs. Swing and a hit, mishandled by the short stop, but the second baseman was right there. The second baseman's throw and our runner were converging on home plate and...
In a bang-bang play the catcher caught the throw from second and quickly tagged out our runner at the plate. Game over, game loss!
The kids did great this season, and second place is nothing to scoff at! A few days after the game the coach and a few players swung by the shop to give us a token of their appreciation.

And what a token of appreciation it was! The whole team got together and signed the game ball. Then they cased it up and gave it to us, as shown in the photo above - once again thanking us for sponsoring their 2022 team. We've since placed the baseball in our store's 'shelf of pride'. Based on how this year went, we're sure we'll see them next year too!
TIME FOR A HOLIDAY
Wendy and I are hitting the road and we'll be gone from 15 to 22 June. Heading up to Wisconsin to visit my old stomping ground. We'll have the Magic the Gathering singles sales paused on Deckbox and the store closed to foot traffic. We are, however, planning on keeping our web sales going strong.
This time around, we have a few part-time assistants who are going to handle the web sales while we're away. If you've received a package from us over the last few weeks, there's a good chance you've received one packaged by them. I'm happy to report there is no dip in our game protection or shipping speed - that should be virtually seamless. The only thing you should notice is some new handwriting in our friendly letters that accompany our packages. So, if you are one of our remote customers, you can order like normal. It's all good!
Also, I haven't decided if I'm going to publish a newsletter next week or not. We do have items coming in before we leave, so I might send out an abbreviated one...perhaps sprinkled with a vacation photo or two. We'll see.
THE DESERT WANDERER
In our continuing art series, we present the Desert Wanderer, and this piece is quickly approaching completion. You can click the photo to make it larger.
Located in a different region of the enormous Pangea than our previous King in the Castle, this desert stands in stark contrast to the rolling plains and gentle lakes the King calls home. Here, the barren and harsh desert landscape stretches on seemingly forever.
Over six thousand years ago, the peoples that migrated here were very human in form and function. However, countless generations of genetic tinkering and regional adaptation has transformed them into more of a human-insect hybrid. This wanderer is almost as much ant as human now.
Here our desert wanderer proudly wields his hard-won flag. It's his tribe's representation of his newly earned Seeker status. Tasked as a Seeker, he gazes far into the distance where Hardell's Hands provide stark contrast to the rocky plateaus, sand dunes, salt marshes and dissected terrain. The last several who have gone this way did not return. Will Zorphax make the arduous journey, or will his carapace armor eventually sink into the ever-moving landscape? Only time will tell!
