Weekly Store Update: 14 July
We're back! It may take a while to get our sea legs back, but we are up and at 'em, ready once again for day-to-day operations to commence. Check out what's arrived while we've been out, and we have a quick story or two that you might find interesting. Thank you for your well wishes and patience as we traversed the hardest part of recovery!
INTRO
Welcome to our weekly newsletter! For our new readers I'm Eric, and Wendy and I run Stone Valley Games. This newsletter is our way to share both local and world-wide gaming news of interest that popped up last week. It also provides our subscribers, both local and remote, some information on the going's on around here so everyone feels like part of the action. At the bottom of this newsletter we show you the restocks, new items, and preorders added to the store last week. It's not too difficult to navigate, so let's get to it!
ONGOING RECOVERY
The most difficult two weeks are behind us, and the slow recovery to full strength continues. However, Wendy is healthy enough for me to take over normal business operations again. I'm still getting my legs under me from being away, but it's like riding a bike... quickly back to full speed (at least down hills!) 😀
We don't anticipate any adjustments to our normal schedule from here on out, but if we do have anything pop up, we'll drop it in our Store Hours section of the website. After all, these things would only impact local operations. Our web sales are right back on - full effect.
USPS SHIPPING CHANGES
The United States Postal Service is updating some of their services again.
- USPS has merged First Class Package and Parcel Select Ground into the new Ground Advantage The slower 2-5 day ground delivery speed stays the same—they just changed the name
- USPS has lowered the rates for Priority Mail, changed the rates for Ground Advantage, and increased the rates for Media Mail.
As with all of the shipping changes we've gone through over the years, it may take some time to fully implement, but there will be no disruption in service. As it stands, the old First Class Package and Parcel Select Ground services are grandfathered in until September 30, 2023, and our plugin devs tell us the fix will be in place well before then.
2023 SUMMER BLOWOUT SALE
Our sale will run from 10:00 Central Time on Sunday, 23 July and end at 21:00 (or 9 PM) Central Time on Tuesday, 25 July. The sale will run across all departments in the store and will range from 30 to 70+ percent off. The deepest discounts will be levied on many of our older, discontinued, or singleton items. I'm warning you that the biggest discounts will be applied to items limited in quantity, so I suggest you set yourself a reminder and arrive early to snag the best deals.
Right before 10:00 that morning I will apply the sales across the store and upload a document to the front page of the website that lists all of the items on sale. It's the same process we've been doing for a few years now.
As with most of our sales, we will be giving away a game to our local customers who order for curbside pickup. We have it narrowed down to one of five possible titles now, but by next week's newsletter we'll have it narrowed down to a single title which we will share with you then.
For those who have enjoyed our sales before it's going to run pretty much the same. In any case. we'll provide any final details in next week's newsletter. We're looking forward to providing another wonderful sale and hope you can make it!
NEW RELEASES
We've stored up two weeks of new releases, which is quite a bit considering I was trying to limit the releases while we were temporarily shut down. I need to work on that... 😀 I'll try to make this concise and not get too wordy here...
There are three source books for Frostgrave that have been re-released. These all work perfectly with the V2 of the base book but have been out of print for a few years now. It's nice to have the family back together. For those who may not know, the Perilous Dark volume allows for solo play - just that and the core book is all you need. It's a really neat system, and if you haven't looked into it, now's your chance.
Star Wars: Shatterpoint released a slew of new squads. These allow for much more flexibility in building out your team. Best part, with the maleability of the Shatterpoint system, the mix and match capability is unlike anything else out there. They do a really good job of translating those Star Wars characters you might have seen on screen to playable figures. Good stuff.
We round out with the latest expansion for one of our favorite games to relax with - Parks and Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. launches off the shelves. This is a ton of game, and we have the promotional dice for this title too - free with every purchase.
