Weekly Store Update: 19 September
Gen Con Indy is wrapping up, and while we did not attend it is nice to hear about so many amazing games on the horizon! We're still a long way from a 'normal' event, but it's good to see things moving again. No time to lollygag though, there are games to move right here! We've added new games, loaded restocks and a fistful of preorders as well. We also drew the winner of our latest Board Game Giveaway, and there is other news to check out too!
INTRO
Have you been to a lot of gaming conventions? We really don't have the bandwidth to stray too far from Huntsville, but there are a few that roll thru here every year we're looking forward to hitting up again! I'm Eric, and Wendy and I own and operate Stone Valley Games. We wish a warm welcome to everyone! For our new readers this top portion contains our news, and at the bottom of the post we list the restocks, new items, and preorders we laid in last week. Not too much to navigate, so let's get right to it!
BOARD GAME GIVEAWAY
We have drawn the winner of the Post-Apocalyptic board game giveaway and it was Gary B. from San Angelo, TX! That was three games this time around, including the brand new Waste Knights Second Edition. If you didn't win this time around you will have to try again next month.

Hey, with a monthly giveaway the chances of winning something here are always good! I'm already playing around with our October giveaway...and there is a significant themed-steeped event in October that might have something to do with it... but I digress!
REVIEWING THE GOOGLE REVIEW
Last week we talked about becoming vetted by Google to have the products and store ratings on our own humble webstore be propagated to Google at large. Which is pretty awesome!
You may have noticed nothing has changed in the webstore yet, and that's because I'm weighing my options. So, the way the Google integration works is it has a pop-up that asks the customer if they'd like to participate. Then after a period of time it'd sent the review form. Which is almost exactly how our current review process works...
The big difference is our current review process is integrated with our rewards system and also provides a reward certificate toward future purchases. The Google option doesn't provide any of that.
I'll tell you the one thing I do not want is two separate customer events for reviews. Reviews are super helpful, but I am not trying to annoy anyone to the point of frustration, and having two similar processes doing the same thing would be just that.
So, I need time to see if I can somehow still provide all the benefits and rewards of our current rewards process and lay the new Google process on top. There is a lot to work through, so it is not going to be the slam dunk I had initially hoped. Bottom line though, I'll make sure whatever process we end up with has you in mind!
DRAFT PLANS IN HAND!
In one of our most exciting bits of ongoing news, the dream of expanding the shop continues. The architects have been working on our sketch and some verbal instructions, turning that vagueness into an architectural plan. Then last week we were able to actually hold those plans! It is so cool to have something that's been rattling around in your head become a reality!

Here's a photo of Wendy holding the arhitecutal page with the outside of the building showing. Other pages are the interier and those will get more detailed as we hone in on specifics. Oh, there are still so many changes to be made, but we're on the board!
We are going to go through several iterations of back-and-forth finalizing things. I'll tell you though, the architects are so receptive to what we want, and have the know-how to make sure what we're asking for is both physically possible and translates well to a reasonably priced build. Like, just laying out the store on the actual plans bring up all these possible changes...
Best part... I also found out in general discussions that one of them is an avid Dungeons and Dragons fan and is going to stop by to check out the property lines and elevation nuances...and maybe peruse the wares too. Nice!
HUNT THE GOOD STUFF
If you haven't had a chance to check the new releases and news emerging from Gen Con, I suggest you just take a few minutes to hit up ole' Google to see what's happening. While not all of the publishers showed at this year's Gen Con, most of them had announcements during or after the event - like one of our favorites Fantasy Flight. Hey, trust me, we understand the Con scene isn't for everyone, but it looks like the industry is not only doing well, but is also not resting on their laurels! I'm pretty sure there's a title or two that will pique your interest. I can tell you we're pretty giddy around here anyway!
