We're back from vacation, and another temporary store closure is immediately ahead. No time to lollygag around though as we had a ton of new games and restock waiting for us - and we drew the winner of our Board Game Giveaway. Lots of things to discuss, why not check it all out?
Welcome to our weekly newsletter! For our new readers I'm Eric, and Wendy and I run Stone Valley Games. This newsletter is our way to share both local and world-wide gaming news of interest that popped up last week. It also provides our subscribers, both local and remote, some information on the going's on around here so everyone feels like part of the action. At the bottom of this newsletter we show you the restocks, new items, and preorders added to the store last week. All in all it's not too difficult to navigate, so let's get to it!
BOARD GAME GIVEAWAY WINNER
We have drawn the winner of Legends of Sleepy Hollow. Such a perfect game for the season!
In Legends of Sleepy Hollow, players take on the roles of the four residents in a cooperative, miniatures-based campaign game full of secrets and twists. The players will have to work closely together to overcome their fear, unravel the mysteries of the glen, and become true Legends of Sleepy Hollow.
The winner was David G. of Centreville, VA. Congratulations David! We'll have the game there in plenty of time for Halloween!
If you didn't win this time around, never fear - more giveaways are heading your way! Register for our newsletter for updates!
THE BOYS ARE BACK
I mentioned recently that we've started sponsoring a video channel as our other sponsored shows have been on a bit of a downswing. Wouldn't you know it, as soon as that was published both Solosaurus and Meeple, Myself and I released new episodes.
Solosaurus has been on hiatus since March and did quite a bit of catch up with this episode. You can listen to it anywhere you normally grab your podcasts, or at this link. Interestingly, we were not listed as sponsors for this episode...I wonder if we missed an email? No, it just seems like they are changing their focus and won't need a sponsor anymore. It's all good with us, it's been an amazing run, and we wish them only the best! Check out the episode to discover their new direction.
Jason from Meeple, Myself and I is still working his way through his top 100 reviewed games. He's encroaching on the Top 10 and will be there very soon as this episode gets from #22 to #16. I have to agree with this list, especially now, nothing but really good games here. Again, he can be found wherever you get your podcasts, or at this link. He also recently dropped a non-gaming podcast on his channel regarding the horror movie Smile. It is that time of year!
OUT OF TOWN
Wendy and I, and our four-legged chaperone Missie made it to the beach. In case you didn't know, Missie is also our Human Resources representative, handles safety and OSHA requirements, and is the official store greeter - so she needed this vacation too!
We had one amazing day with perfect weather, and then that cold front swept across the south all the way down here and chased us off the beach. No worries though, there was still plenty of relaxation and enjoyment in unplugging for a week.
Here's a few photos from our trip, and we can't wait to hit it again next year. However, as these things inevitably go, all too quickly it was time to pack up and head back home.
Upon arrival back in the shop the skeleton crew had done a wonderful job keeping up with the web orders. However, outside of web orders it's all on me. There was a ton of new games and restock, so there wasn't much transition time - we went right to work. We caught up with everything just in time to release this newsletter - busy, busy!
NEXT LITTLE BIT
The storefront will only be open for a few days next week. We list our hours in two places - in our Google page and on our website. The first part of the week will see me getting ready for the inevitable surgery - there are a lot of appointments and meetings. Who would have thought that picking up some hip hardware would be such a big deal?
The webstore will remain open throughout. There may be a day or two when things may ship in two days instead of the next day, especially early in November. However, we will keep things moving - as we do, especially since I have helpers in this part of the shop.
Once I can get up and down the stairs with little effort things will open back up. That could take 4 to 6 weeks, but I will keep these newsletters rolling and let you know how things are going.
Now, for our local customers who want to pick things up, just give us a call or send us an email and we can work that out. I'd recommend sending an email, as I don't know if we'll be able to get to the phone all the time.
We will still have new games show up and will continue restocking games too. I should have time to research some new product lines - and maybe get those Cthulhu books on order. However, I anticipate a general slowdown around here and perhaps a few days of nonresponsive email from time to time. Just hang with us, we'll make it thru this and be back up to full speed in no time and like I mentioned before, we'll keep you up to date right here in the newsletter.
THE WRAP UP
Okay, enough news for this week! Below are the Restocks, New Items, and Preorders added to the shop last week. You can click on the item to learn more, and many of the products have review and gameplay videos so you can see the game in action. If you're visiting our page and you'd like to keep up with our giveaways, sales, new products, and articles like this one just create an account here. Once created you will be subscribed to our newsletter and become enrolled in our loyalty system, instantly earning 50 Stones that you can use on your very first order. A Stone? One Stone is equivalent to One Cent. That doesn't sound like much, but you earn 2 Stones for every dollar spent and 5 for each product review, so though it may seem small, those savings add up fast! Redeem your Stones upon checkout, and they can save you up to 10% off your cart total. Loyalty Matters!
No Preorders added last week. There are a bunch we need to add... just ran out of time!
