Weekly Store Update: 27 November

PEACE SELLS...

This is the first Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday since we've been open that we didn't host a weekend-long sale. Of course, I'm completely to blame by choosing this time of year to acquire a shiny new hip and am not physically able to meet that challenge quite yet. I am agitated but satisfied that I made the correct decision.

I can tell you that this annual sale really helps get us healthy on the tally sheet though, so that's a touch of concern. However, I think we can make up for it. Instead of running our sale from 25 to 28 November, we're going to relabel it an End of Year sale and run it from 28 to 31 December.

This should actually do two things for us. First, it will help eliminate some stock right before our end of year inventory (which is super helpful for tax purposes) and will help balance the books right before the year ends. On top of that, customers may have Christmas money and might want to get something from our shop they didn't receive for Christmas. I expect to be physically capable of handling it all by then, so it should be wins all around!

We'll give you more details on the sale in the coming weeks but anticipate our normally crazy sales across numerous categories. It's going to be awesome!

YOU CAN'T BRING ME DOWN

Many of you know I've been recovering from a complete hip replacement. Initially I was going to discuss how aging sucks, with all the surgeries, pain and general discomfort. However, those things are really much less impactful to me than all the wonders aging has brought, such as wisdom, experience, understanding, tolerance and peace. I often quip that the younger version of me wouldn't even talk to the older version of me - as they are completely different people, and the younger version wouldn't take the advice anyway. 

I guess that's what you get when you're forced to slow down and heal - lots of time to think. Things are continually trending in the right direction on the recovery though, and I am quite confident that we'll have the storefront opened up again on 19 December. While the curbside-pickup has been an amazing option keeping us in the game (pun intended), it'll be nice to have customers in the shop again. 

Oh, and I know you probably caught it, but my section titles this week have been some old throwback rock, metal and thrash tracks. Rock on!
