The Darkness has enveloped us completely... That's right, the second wave of Massive Darkness 2 arrived, so now everything's here! Shining through the darkness though is the launch of our June board game giveaway, some store improvements to discuss, and final art to show off! Click on in to check out what's going on with us!
Welcome to our weekly newsletter! For our new readers I'm Eric, and Wendy and I run Stone Valley Games. This newsletter is our way to share both local and world-wide gaming news of interest that popped up last week. It also provides our subscribers, both local and remote, some information on the going's on around here so everyone feels like part of the action. At the bottom of this newsletter we show you the restocks, new items, and preorders added to the store last week. All in all it's not too difficult to navigate, so let's get to it!
BOARD GAME GIVEAWAY
Top News this week is we have a Board Game Giveaway going on right now! CLICK HERE to go to the sign in page and find out more about it.
Seemingly everyone's hitting the road in June! Why not, it's a great time of year to do so. Heck, even Wendy and I are going to take some time off later this month. BUT, not before giving away June's wonderful boardgame Secrets of the Lost Station! Talk about a road trip! This amazing cooperative game of sci-fi, action-adventure, and exploration is a highly detailed and thematic wonder to behold.
I reported several months ago that we've put our expansion plans on hold. That doesn't mean we're resting on our laurels though! Over the last several weeks we've made some changes to the shop that we wanted to talk about.
First, we've updated the lighting fixtures along the ceiling throughout the shop. Gone are those old, faded bulb solutions and now we have enough light to... push back that Massive Darkness we talked about before. Ha! Sorry...sometimes I just cannot help myself. At the end of the day these modern fixtures illuminate everything fantastically, which is just what we were going for.
If you have been with us since our giant Lord of the Rings and Arkham Horror Living Card Game (LCG) sale in which we basically liquidated most of our 'old' card and box packs that followed the old release system. For those in the know, each game had story arch's that involved a box and six packs. Recently Fantasy Flight Games switched that up to two boxes containing the Investigators in one box and Campaign in the other. That's much better for customers, but it threw us for a bit of a loop.
Because of the change in release format we made a signifcant change in how we handle the games. We didn't just change how we displayed the products in the webstore though, we also rearranged how we display the items in-store.
You can see in the photo below we now have Marvel Champions, Lord of the Rings, and Arkham Horror Living Card Games in different sections with the individual packs split between the titles on their own hangers too. This is how we'll keep up with these Living Card Games going forward.
We have just one more in-store improvement to discuss. With the adjustment of our Living Card Games, we had a small section available to do something else with. Ultimately, we will most likely turn this area into our Best Sellers section but am waiting on the shelving for that. One of our publishers has mentioned they are going to hook us up.
Until then, we're using it to highlight a newly released, robust, multi-faceted game.
We had Hour of Need up there before, and it was very, very popular, leaving us in less than a week. We'll give Massive Darkness 2 a shot for now. However, with new games arriving every week I don't know how long it will hold that spot!
THE KING ARRIVES!
If you've been following us over the last several weeks, we've been providing updates to our most recent original art concept we're calling King in the Castle.
If you click on the gallery below, you can toggle back and forth between the Day and Night versions of it. There are several new, easily identified nuances now...and like most of our art there are tons of nods to our store logos and other insider clues.
So, for our not-so-local customers, we're not just making improvements to the storefront! With this latest finished product, we've now updated our webstore too. When you're visiting your Stone Valley Games account area, you'll be able to chill out in the castle too! The king welcomes all!
