Weekly Store Update: 30 October

Happy Halloween! Fall is our favorite season and Halloween is the perfect cherry on top. Such a fun and fantastical time of year, helping us get fully stocked up on ghosts and goblins! There have been fun new items added to the shop last week, and a good amount of restock - plus lots of preorders too. We discuss what's up with the November giveaway and more. Check it out!

Welcome to our weekly newsletter! For our new readers I'm Eric, and Wendy and I run Stone Valley Games. This newsletter is our way to share both local and world-wide gaming news of interest that popped up last week. It also provides our subscribers, both local and remote, some information on the going's on around here so everyone feels like part of the action. At the bottom of this newsletter we show you the restocks, new items, and preorders added to the store last week. All in all it's not too difficult to navigate, so let's get to it!

Our November giveaway is going on a bit of a hiatus. Normally it would be launching this week, but with my looming surgery there won't be anyone available to tend to it. It's the result of having a one-person deep system operations employee... We may have to skip November's giveaway altogether.

However, there is a chance. We'll see how I'm healing and if I can handle it, we may very well still get our giveaway going. I anticipate we'll know more in a week or two. Stay tuned right here for updates.

We've received shipment updates on a few crowdfunding titles and wanted to cover those real quick.

Lands of Galzyr has shipped. This is a highly anticipated adventure game for 1 - 4 players with an open and persistent world. These types of games have been done before, but we always felt they could be better, more meaningful. This looks like it could be the one. This is coming from the US, so it could very well be set up by next week.

Endless Winter: Paleoamericans has also shipped. This is coming from much, much further away though, and still might be three or four weeks out. A happy combination of worker placement and innovative deck building, with art by Ico, it has a lot going for it.

Additionally, Jason of Meeple, Myself and I just wrote a review about Endless Winter. You can find that here. It's insightful and detailed as always and may help you understand the game a bit more.

Our longtime readers know we support the Chugach school district up in Alaska, and they remain our only extended relationship. It began early in our shop's existence and we've really enjoyed helping them out. The majority of our support is right here at home though. We have a handful of local schools and teams, and the MWR at the nearby Redstone Arsenal for our military folks.

This kind of support is a bit of a juggle. We carefully assess our donations and support to make sure we stay financially viable, and since we're so small we have to keep things relatively limited. I can tell you though, it's one of our favorite parts of running the business. If gaming makes people happy, helping folks who normally couldn't or wouldn't have that possibility is even better! Smiles everyone, smiles!

In demonstrating their appreciation, we often receive photos, displays and other very Alaskan things - including the following photo.

aurora borealis 221022

It is such an amazingly eerie and fantastic shot of the aurora borealis, just in time for Halloween. Think about trapsing around in those woods at night...

Thanks again Chugach Schools, very cool!

Here's a quick story. Asmodee has announced their game Just One is available for free on Board Game Arena!

Join with players around the world or with your friends online to play game after game of Just One, winner of the Spiel des Jahres (Game of the year) in 2019. Make your teammates guess a mystery word by coming up with a clear clue… and be original since identical clues will be cancelled!

Well, the time has come. By the time you read this I will be the owner of a shiny new hip. It's a funny thing, you know. You're looking at an event like this and initially there are months to go and then 'whack' it's upon you. Kind of surreal.

So, I will be recovering for some weeks ahead. As I've mentioned over the last several newsletters, we'll have the storefront closed for the immediate future. I'll continue to update the hours on our website and the Google store is correct as well. We will have a crew in a few hours a day to push out the shipments. So, if you have a pickup, send us an email or give us a call and we can work with you to set that pickup timing.

I will keep you updated in this newsletter on my recovery as I can. Even if only a few words, especially the first week. I do appreciate all the well wishes you've been sending me and prayer list additions, trust me I'll take all the good energy you have to give! Looking forward to the relief this will ultimately bring.

Okay, enough news for this week! Below are the Restocks, New Items, and Preorders added to the shop last week. You can click on the item to learn more, and many of the products have review and gameplay videos so you can see the game in action. If you're visiting our page and you'd like to keep up with our giveaways, sales, new products, and articles like this one just create an account here. Once created you will be subscribed to our newsletter and become enrolled in our loyalty system, instantly earning 50 Stones that you can use on your very first order. A Stone? One Stone is equivalent to One Cent. That doesn't sound like much, but you earn 2 Stones for every dollar spent and 5 for each product review, so though it may seem small, those savings add up fast! Redeem your Stones upon checkout, and they can save you up to 10% off your cart total. Loyalty Matters!
