Weekly Store Update: 31 March
It was dark around here for days while they repaired the downed transformer, but we're 'cowboy up' and back to rolling dice again. Talking about rolling the dice... is the weather here in Alabama, where sometimes the house...does not win. For real. In any case, it's a short one this week due to the power outage, but there are still some good nuggets in this week's newsletter. Come check us out!
INTRO
Welcome to our weekly newsletter! For our new readers I'm Eric, and Wendy and I run Stone Valley Games. This newsletter is our way to share both local and world-wide gaming news of interest that popped up last week. It also provides our subscribers, both local and remote, some information on the going's on around here so everyone feels like part of the action. At the bottom of this newsletter we show you the restocks, new items, and preorders added to the store last week. It's not too difficult to navigate, so let's get to it!
VINDICATED
Orange Nebula informed the gaming community that there were a few production errors on the Chronicles expansion and fully loaded version of the Archive of the Ancients box. They are working on a "rectification kit" to fix those issues.
We have sold a few Vindication (Upgraded All-In Bundles) that are affected by this issue and have a few in stock too. There were several questions from folks asking if we were working with Orange Nebula on the fix and I'm happy to report that we are - for local customers or remote. For local customers who purchase this bundle, we'll get the Rectification Kit in and let you know when you can come pick it up. In the case where a customer is unable to get to our store, either because they’re not local, they’ve moved, or any other myriad of reasons, Orange Nebula can ship it to them directly. So, we're working with Orange Nebula on whom those customers are.
As of a bit earlier this week, Orange Nebula informed us it would be a "month or two' before the kits were ready as they were still in production. In any case, I just wanted to let everyone know we do have this particular situation well in hand and will make sure you get your kit once it's available.
STOREFRONT SHUFFLE
Right before all the lights went out with the transformer outage, we were just about finished with a significant rearrangement to open up some more floor space. For our local customers who've been in the shop you will be amazed to learn we now have a decent-sized space for players to eventually be able to play in-store.
This is a big deal for us, as our previous store layout left absolutely no space for playing. We're also collaborating with a local woodworker to have a one-of-a-kind gaming table made to fit that space. We meet with them this weekend.
The photo below is of our store's 'large room' with a placeholder table there to help measure the space. We're hoping to be able to fit 8, for things like booster draft tourneys, but we'll see what we end up with.

We still have some work to do in rearranging everything, but the store is open. We're going to try and finish up the other pieces, like adding more peg-walls and such, over the next week. Even though it's not quite finished yet, it's like day and night compared to how it used to be!
WISHING ON A WISHLIST
We received a few complaints that the Wishlist was sending them 'low product' emails for items they hadn't even added to their Wishlist. I did some investigating but could not find anything wrong with the software settings (as sometimes happens if the software plugin updates) so sent in a help desk ticket.
Well, we have yet to hear anything from them, so I'm on the edge of eliminating that Wishlist plugin and looking for a new one. It's obviously not our first choice, but it's important to have software that is maintained and this one appears to be rudderless right now.
Until we can get it all sorted out, I have turned a lot of the Wishlist functionality off. You may have noticed. I will not be able to turn any of that back on until the devs fix the current issues.
Again, I really do not want to start a new Wishlist as everyone will have to migrate their items. However, if we cannot get support I will have to do it. That will most likely happen in the next week or so, and I'll give you a head's up on the change - if any, right here in the newsletter.
While we're on plugins that just aren't working right, let's talk about the delivery plugin for a minute. We had kicked that to our overall software support team, and they have yet to figure it out. It's been over a month now, and they are still 'working on it'. I'm not losing sleep over it, as I'm sure it'll eventually be worked out, but it is a tad frustrating that the 'experts' in WordPress cannot get it done. We'll just keep checking in on them and hoping for the best.
